  Caddo Parish Juvenile Justice Complex

Project Details
The two-story 49,000 square foot building was constructed in front of the existing Juvenile Court building in order to unite juvenile services for the parish. The new complex now consists of three buildings: the renovated court building which now serves as the parish archives; a new court building; and a new detention facility. Slack Alost provided architectural services for the renovations to the existing building and designed the two new buildings.

The two-story court building contains three courtrooms on the first level. The second level houses administration, probation, records and judge's chambers.

The one-story detention facility features three living units, each containing seven bedrooms. The units are linked together with a multipurpose area that is used for education, dining and recreation. The multipurpose area was designed as a flexible space that can be adapted for a wide variety of programs and uses. Special care was taken to provide natural light into the living areas as well as to enable the residents to view the out-of-doors.
